Walton returns as Queens Volleyball Head Coach for 2022/2023

After experiencing improved health, Talbot Walton is resuming his role as Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball Head Coach, effective immediately.“We are extremely grateful that Talbot’s health has steadily progressed, so that he can continue the proud legacy of the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball program in a role that he loves,” says Kristine Plastow, Red Deer Polytechnic Dean of Students. “We would also like to express our gratitude to Interim Head Coach Chris Wandler for his hard work, dedication, and ability to guide the Queens throughout a very successful and memorable 2021/2022 season.”
Letkeman and Queens down Kodiaks, cap off undefeated season

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens wrapped up the regular season as the only undefeated team in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Volleyball.For the first time this year, the Queens were pushed to five sets, but they remained composed and dropped the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on the road for their 16th consecutive victory (25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 23-25 and 15-10).

Even though the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens defeated the Briercrest College Clippers in four sets Friday evening, they collectively felt that they could play with more consistency.“We talked about if we have dips in our play to not make those dips too long and I thought we did a good job of just minimizing those today,” said Chris Wandler, Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball Interim Head Coach. “We want to keep our minds focused on the next execution and what our jobs are, and I thought that was done quite well this afternoon.”

Once Red Deer Polytechnic Queens setter Emma Letkeman and outside hitter Tess Pearman got into a groove, it was challenging for the Briercrest Clippers to slow down that offensive production.Tess Pearman recorded a match high 16 kills and the Queens downed the visitors in four sets (25-20, 25-23, 15-25, and 25-15).
